Frequently Asked Questions
1) How much does AC installation cost in Adelaide?
For a single split system, typical install-only pricing (standard back-to-back) starts around $600–$750, but increases with size, cabling/pipe runs, switchboard work, wall type, and access. Multi-split or complex runs raise costs further; national guides put multi-split installs up to a few thousand dollars depending on scope. If you need a new circuit or wall brackets/slab, that adds extra.
2) Do I need approval or certificates in SA?
Most residential AC installs don’t need a separate planning approval, but electrical work in SA must be certified: your licensed electrician issues an Electrical Certificate of Compliance (eCoC) and submits it to the Office of the Technical Regulator within 30 days. We handle this end-to-end.
3) Are there any new SA rules I should know about?
Yes. From 1 July 2023, many new air conditioners connected in SA must be demand-response capable under the Technical Regulator’s guideline (recognising AS/NZS 4755.3.1:2025 as of Sept 2025). In short, your new unit needs to support demand-response modes; we’ll make sure whatever you choose is compliant.
4) Who’s legally allowed to install my AC?
Australia requires licensed professionals for both the refrigerant and electrical sides. The installing business needs an ARC Refrigerant Trading Authorisation (RTA) and technicians must hold the appropriate ARC licenses; an SA-licensed electrician completes and lodges your eCoC. Our team is licensed and insured.
5) What size (kW) system do I need for my room/home?
A quick rule of thumb is ~0.15 kW of cooling per m² of floor area, adjusted for insulation, ceiling height, sun exposure and glazing. Independent testing also warns against oversizing—more isn’t always better for comfort or efficiency. We size systems via an on-site assessment.
6) How long does installation take—and how fast can you get here?
A standard back-to-back split is typically a half-day (about 4–8 hours). Multi-split or tricky runs can take longer.
7) Are there rebates or discounts in SA?
South Australia’s Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) provides incentives via accredited providers/retailers (it’s usually a point-of-sale discount rather than a direct government cheque). Eligibility and amounts vary by product and provider—we’ll flag any current offers that apply to your install.
